Shirin Begum is studying a master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction at UCL with a first class bachelor’s in Computer Science. She is looking to work in UX/UI design and research.

I am proficient in Figma, Photoshop, Adobe XD and Illustrator and have utilised them for UX/UI projects both for my HCI degree and independent work. I aim to go into the field of UX/UI and have a keen interest in designing with the aim of helping make people’s lives easier.

I possess advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS, along with JavaScript and Python, and have an educational background in Computer Science. My bachelor’s thesis is titled A Study in Efficiency: Exploring the Impact of AI-based Chatbots on User Experience in E-commerce’ which involved creating a chatbot from scratch in python and analysing how the differences in friendliness and conversational tone of a chatbot influences a user’s perception of a chatbot’s overall helpfulness.

The Master’s thesis I am writing over the summer investigates how LLMs (Large Language Models) represent (or rather, misrepresent) minority groups in Persona creation (Persona referring to a fictional representation of a target group when designing).
